Hey there,
I know it has been a long time since I wrote an updated blog, but we truly have been "busy bees". There have been alot of endings to things... and alot of beginnings about to start!
Today we had our last MAPP class to foster/adopt a child through the state.
This week was also Bayleigh's last day of first grade! (so sad). They had a fun day of water slides! She is happy to be going to 2nd grade next year because Landon will be going to Pre-k. She is excited to be able to help him go to class, etc, etc... she is such a little mommy!
May 12th was also Landon's 4th Birthday~ We had a family party and he loved his Batman cake! He got lots of superhero toys that he loved!!! Our kids are awesome!
Like I said we finished our foster/adoption classes today! We are now very close to being certified and ready to receive a child into our home! We are hoping to start and end our home study process in the next few weeks. After that, we will be able to accept a child. Our hopes are for a boy, 0-7 yrs old. The kids talk about getting a new brother all the time! They are very sweet kids, and can't wait to have a new brother!
The need is so great and every time we were in class, they kept expressing how more and more children are coming into foster care because of drugs, neglect, abuse, etc. And that they are quickly running out of homes to be able to take in these children. I understand that foster care and adoption is not a great fit for every family. But if you have the slightest inkling that God is telling you to help and give a child a loving home... please continue to pray and open your heart and home to a child/children. Think about the scenarios.... a baby is born and has been drug exposed in the womb.... a child has been left at home for 2-3 days by himself, someone finds out and calls..... an abusive parent has been physically or sexually abusing an innocent child, and that child needs someone to show him true love...... a mom is hooked on drugs and cannot take care of her children, shes been warned but she just can't get clean..... These are only a few examples. But they are not stories, these things happen to real children who have no choice in the situation! Every child deserves to be loved, and be a part of a family that can nurture them and help them grow into young men and women! Please search your heart.
I am also happy to say that Reid Terry and his wife are in Taipei, Taiwan this week picking up there child, Eli. He is a baby who has Downs Syndrome, and he is just precious! We are thrilled for this family and their blessing!! www.terryadoption.blogspot.com I like to share any adoption news from friends that I come across! This is exciting for us because when we first started looking into adoption.. we really looked into adoption from Taiwan!
Also please keep the families adopting from Ethiopia in your prayers. The adoption process in that country has slowed down quite a bit, and these families will be waiting for much longer periods of time than first expected! I know they are eager to have their children home with them!
